Okay. Think for a second, what is it like, this single life here in Vancouver? I mean, is the dating scene here better or worse than anywhere else? Is being single more of a struggle, maybe because our singles are harder to find or harder to win over than in other big cities? Yes? No? It mostly comes down to opinion and personal experience. That said, there’s something that Vancouver has going for it that other places don’t, but we’ll get to that in a minute.
For now, consider this: there comes a time when going out to bars, hitting singles joints and being setup on blind dates gets to be a little old. After a while, doing those things feels like work, and dating should be an adventure, not a chore.
Fortunately it can be an adventure. Adventure dating, a name that says it all, is a trend that’s been growing a lot in recent years. Paragliding, rock climbing, horseback riding and kayaking. Those are things so many of us already like to do. Those are things that are exciting and make us feel the most alive. Those things are adventures in and of themselves. So it only makes sense to mix those adventures with the adventurous nature of the singles scene.
Think about it. Adventure dating gives you the chance to do the sorts of things you may have only dreamt about in the past, let’s you do it with a group of great people, and gives you the opportunity to meet some like minded singles. What could be better?
People flock to this type of thing because they’re fun all on their own. If you go to a singles bar without meeting anyone, you’ve got nothing to show for it but a bar tab. If you go wakeboarding amongst the spectacular scenery of beautiful Indian Arm and don’t meet anyone, well, you’ve still gone wakeboarding in Indian Arm!
Now take a step back and imagine the possibilities of how this can reshape Vancouver’s singles scene for you. You get to leave the internet chat rooms behind, save the bar scene for when you actually have someone to go with, and instead dive into the incredible adventures Vancouver has to offer.
As for actually meeting someone who’s great for you, well, not only do these events get you out with a bunch of people who are in to the same kinds of adventures you are, but, trust me, there is no better way to get to know someone than when you’re hanging off the face of a rock, waiting your turn to jump out of a plane, or maneuvering class 3-4 rapids in you eight-man raft. All your hearts are racing, your adrenaline is rushing and you end up feeling closer to people you’ve just met than you ever thought possible.
Now, what is it that Vancouver’s single scene has going for it that makes being single here better than anywhere else? Simple: here in this glorious city, we have access to an ocean, mountains and breathtaking scenery. That gives us one of the best landscapes for adventure dating anyone can hope for. Since single and adventure are now going hand-in-hand, Vancouver becomes the perfect place.
